TALKFEST and IBERIAN FESTIVAL AWARDS 2019: numbers and conclusions

The 8th edition of Talkfest ended in the last week, with two days of activities taking place between the cities of Vigo (with the Iberian Festival Awards) and Lisboa (with professional activities: conferences, pitch, workshops, scientific presentations, exhibitions, documentaries, vox expert and networking lounge).

The Iberian Festival Awards, with a second presence in Spain after Barcelona, had an action full of good disposition, divided between the gala in the auditorium and the networking zone with open & piano bar and activations zone. A night to remember, where it could be watched a venue ready to enjoy the live performances (Joana Espadinha, Filipe Sambado, Bezegol, Kings of The Beach, Vudú and Disco las Palmeras!) while where announced the national and Iberian winners of one total of 23 categories. The evening wasn't only for party, the gala just a pretext for meetings, reunions, hugs and reinforcement of partnerships in order to increase the competitiveness of this area. Bons Sons, Fmm Sines, EdpCoolJazz, Rototom Sunspash, Son do Camiño and Bilbao BBK Live received more than an award. Luís Ferreira (artistic director of Bons Sons) received the Excellence Award for the evolutionary work of his project in each edition and for the capacity to work and value the culture to a local community and society.

Talkfest was once again the place for current themes that interfere in the sphere of festivals, as well as presentation of projects that serve to optimize processes in this area. Promoters, presidents, mayors, artists, journalists and service providers together inside and outside in the various auditoriums / rooms for the acquisition of tools and enhancement of their network of contacts, in an edition that was opened by the Portuguese Minister of Culture, and had conferences sold out. There have been a number of first-hand news about festivals, including the presentation of the Amsterdam Dance Event case study by its director; the interview with Rototom Sunsplash's communication director and the presentation of the 2018 edition of "The festival-goer profile" (APORFEST study) which indicated an increase in the number of festivals consumed.

There were 5 simultaneous programme rooms, a radio studio and Vox Pop for interviews with everyone present in an edition that was marked by the evolution of the Talkfest concept, with a brand activation zone replete and by its acceptance of the various stakeholders of the area as a way of obtaining knowledge.

The Talkfest 2020 edition has already been confirmed for the 2nd and 3rd week of March and will mark the decentralization of the Iberian Festival Awards and the presence of more international speakers in Talkfest that will be able to have a bigger capacity.

We would like to thank the associates APORFEST (these are the main support of the event), speakers and moderators in the various programme areas, jury members, sponsors and partners (in particular Direção-Geral das Artes, Fundação GDA, and Spanish Embassy in Portugal), staff (own and of partnerships such as Last Step, Escola Tecnico Profissional da Moita, Glownet, Goldcar, ArtCor Light, Instituto Camões, Unlimited Events, Janitasound, i4DJ, Sagres, Fonte Viva, La Redoute and Playplan) and of course, the public that participated in the event and that we hope they may have acquired skills and information for this year's work.
