CITY TOUR
A CORUÑA, YOUR HOST CITY
A CORUÑA
A Coruña, the host city of this year's Iberian Festival Awards gala, is an Atlantic city that combines a maritime-linked historical heritage with a vibrant urban life. Known for its promenade, its urban beaches, and the Tower of Hercules, the city offers a balance of culture, nature, and gastronomy.
Begin the tour at Plaza de María Pita, the heart of the city, presided over by the Palacio Municipal and the statue of the local heroine. From there, walk to the Ciudad Vieja, where every street tells the story of A Coruña, with the Iglesia de Santiago, the oldest in the city, and Plaza del General Azcárraga, ideal for a quiet pause. Don't miss the Jardines de San Carlos, a romantic oasis with views over the harbour, and the Castillo de San Antón, a 16th-century fortress that houses the Archaeological and Historical Museum.
Next, walk along Avenida de la Marina, known as the "city of glass" for its iconic white glazed galleries, and head towards the Torre de Hércules, the oldest working Roman lighthouse in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Climb its 234 steps to enjoy panoramic views of the Atlantic, and stroll through the Parque Escultórico that surrounds it, an open-air museum facing the sea.
For an authentic gastronomic experience, head to the Mercado de San Agustín, where you can taste fresh produce and seafood, or enjoy tapas along Estrella and Olmos streets. Be sure to try pulpo a feira (Galician-style octopus) and empanada gallega, accompanied by an Albariño wine.
If you have time, Monte de San Pedro offers the best views of the city and the coastline, and can be reached via a panoramic lift. For beer lovers, the MEGA (Mundo Estrella Galicia) museum is a must-visit to discover Galician beer culture.

PALACIO DE LA ÓPERA
On 13 March, the event to attend is at the Palacio de la Ópera, located next to Santa Margarita Park, where the Iberian Festival Awards gala will be held from 19:30. The venue is accessible by bus (L4, L5, L6, L6A, L11, L20 and L22 lines) and has private parking.
During 13 and 14 March, take the opportunity to discover the city on foot, by public transport, or by car, and enjoy its seafaring atmosphere and cultural offering.
Overall, A Coruña offers a balanced combination of urban charm, cultural heritage, seaside relaxation, and easy access to Galicia's natural treasures—making it a destination best explored at a relaxed pace.
